PROVIDED KNOWLEDGE AND RESOURCES TO THE DAWE (LANGANO) COMMUNITY IN ETHIOPIA TO ESTABLISH A SUSTAINABLE FARMING SYSTEM WHICH WOULD PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED FOOD AND JOBS TO A STRUGGLING COMMUNITY. PROJECTS INCLUDED PLANTING VEGETATION, INSTALLATION OF A DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM, COMPLETION OF A MULTIPURPOSE HOUSE AND CONSTRUCTION OF A COMMUNITY SCHOOL BUILDING. FUNDING FROM ORGANIZATION ASSISTED IN CONSTRUCTION OF A FOUR ROOM APARTMENT HOUSE TO PROVIDE LIVING QUARTERS FOR TEACHERS WHO WORK AT NEW SCHOOL. ALSO HELPED WITH START UP COSTS FOR A METAL FABRICATION BUSINESS TO ASSIST FOUR GRADUATES SPONSORED BY ORGANIZATION TO EMPLOY THEIR NEW SKILLS. THE DAWE SCHOOL AREA NOW INCLUDES A NEW TEACHERS' HOUSING APARTMENT FACILITIY PLUS TWO NEW SCHOOLS FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FOURTH GRADE. THESE SCHOOLS HAVE CEMENT WALLS AND FLOORS AND ARE FURNISHED WITH DESKS, CHAIRS, BOOKSHELVES AND BLACKBOARDS. LAND HAS BEEN PURCHASED AS A FUTURE SITE FOR A CHURCH AND A MEDICAL CLINIC.
