THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE GREATER ELMER AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY WAS CREATED WAS TO UNITE THE HISTORICAL CONNECTIONS OF THE BOROUGH OF ELMER AND ITS TWO NEIGHBORING MUNICIPALITIES - THE TOWNSHIP OF UPPER PITTSGROVE AND THE TOWNSHIP OF PITTSGROVE. THE SOCIETY'S GOAL IS TO UTILIZE THAT CONNECTION TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE HISTORY THAT THE THREE MUNICIPALITIES SHARE AND TO PROMOTE THE CULTURAL GROWTH OF THE THREE COMMUNITIES.
