THE MAURICE LUCAS FOUNDATION'S ACADEMY PROGRAM ADMITS AND SERVES STUDENTS ATTENDING TITLE 1 MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN THE PORTLAND METROPOLITAN AREA AND STAYS WITH THEM DURING THE CRUCIAL TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL AND THEN TO FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE, COMMUNITY COLLEGE, VOCATIONAL SCHOOL, APPRENTICESHIP, MILITARY SERVICE OR DIRECTLY INTO THE WORKFORCE. GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF SEVEN PILLARS GOAL SETTING, INTEGRITY, LEADERSHIP, RESPECT, HARD WORK, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND POSITIVITY FORM THE FOUNDATION OF THEIR PROGRAMS. THEIR MIDDLE SCHOOL THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND POST-HIGH PROGRAMS ARE BUILT ON ACADEMICS, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND COMMUNITY. THEY BELIEVE THAT LACK OF FINANCIAL ABILITY SHOULD NOT BE A BARRIER TO ADVANCING AND FULFILLING ANY STUDENT'S EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER GOALS.
THE FOUNDATION'S ML20 ENFORCERS PROGRAM IS AN ELITE BASKETBALL TEAM THAT COMPETES IN TOURNAMENTS AND HELPS EXPAND EACH PARTICIPANT'S CORE VALUES OF INTEGRITY, HARD WORK, GOAL SETTING, POSITIVITY, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT AND LEADERSHIP.
