THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES FUNDING FOR EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR THE SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT. IN 2017, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED FUNDING FOR UNIFORMS FOR HONOR GUARD, FORENSIC PHOTO TRAINING, CARD READERS, CRIME SCENE BODY SHIELDS, SPECIAL OLYMPICS AND THE SALEM POLICE VEHICLE WRAPS TO SHOW COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR VARIOUS CAUSES SUCH AS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AND SUICIDE PREVENTION.
THE ORGANIZATION ALLOCATES FUNDING TO THE K-9 PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDES K-9 CAMERAS MOUNTED TO DOG'S HARNESS TO ASSIST IN SEARCHES, IMPROVEMENTS TO K-9 AGILITY COURSE AND K-9 VESTS.
MORE THAN 30,000 SALEM CHILDREN HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO THE DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION (DARE) AND THE SALEM POLICE FOUNDATION HAS PLEDGED TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN SALEM SINCE 1992.
