THE WISCONSIN LUMBER DEALERS EDUCATION FOUNDATION (WLDEF) IS A NON-PROFIT CORPORATION WHICH WAS CREATED AND SHALL BE OPERATED TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE THE RETAIL LUMBER INDUSTRY IN WISCONSIN AND THE MICHIGAN UPPER PENINSULA. THE WLDEF WILL SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO CURRENT WISCONSIN AND UPPER MICHIGAN BASED MEMBERS. THE WLDEF WILL SUPPORT ATTENDANCE AT EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES, AND WILL DISSEMINATE EDUCATIONAL AND PROMOTIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE LUMBER AND BUILDING MATERIALS INDUSTRY. IT WILL ALSO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS WITH AN INTEREST IN THE BUILDING MATERIALS AND THE BUILDING TRADES TO PURSUE POST SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES.

DURING 2021, THE FOUNDATION INCREASED THE AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TO 4 INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN A COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY, OR ACCREDITED VOCATIONAL PROGRAM OF HIGH LEARNING AND WHO HAVE INTEREST IN A CAREER THAT CENTERS ON, OR SUPPORTS, THE LUMBER AND BUILDING MATERIALS INDUSTRY, THE BUILDING TRADES, OR IN SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDED TUITION ASSISTANCE TO MEMBERS' EMPLOYEES WHO ATTENDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR THE LUMBER AND BUILDING MATERIALS INDUSTRY. WLDEF CO-SPONSORED AN VIRTUAL DISCOVERY SUMMIT FOR RETAIL LUMBER DEALERS WHICH WAS HELD IN LIEU OF THE ANNUAL WISCONSIN LUMBER DEALERS LEADERSHIP CONFERNECE BECUASE OF COVID-19.
