N JANUARY OF 2023, NCYCA HOSTED 175 MEMBERS FOR OUR WINTER ISSUES FORUM AT KANUGA CONFERENCE CENTER WHICH FEATURED TRACY GASLIN FROM THE ALLIANCE FOR CAMP HEALTH. TRACY TOOK MEMBERS ON A DEEP DIVE INTO CAMPER MENTAL HEALTH. THEY LEFT THE TRAINING WITH CAMP SPECIFIC TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO ADDRESS MESH ISSUES WITH CAMPERS. THEY WERE ALSO PROVIDED GUIDANCE ON MANAGING PARENT EXPECTATIONS AROUND THESE ISSUES NCYCA'S 2023 SPRING MEETING WAS HOSTED BY CAMP DEERFOOT AND BROUGHT TOGETHER OVER 150 MEMBERS. MEMBERS DISCUSSED FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL ISSUES AFFECTING THE CAMPING INDUSTRY. SPECIFICALLY, WE WELCOMED SPECIAL GUEST, WILL HENDRICKS FROM MORROW INSURANCE WHERE HE GAVE A PRESENTATION ON HOW THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY IS BEING AFFECTED BY MAJOR WEATHER EVENTS AND WHAT THAT COULD MEAN FOR THE NC CAMP INDUSTRY. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2023, NCYCA HOSTED THE ANNUAL FALL MEETING AT GREEN RIVER PRESERVE. THE DAY'S ACTIVITIES FEATURED SPEAKER KIM AYCOCK'S TRAINING ON STAFF RECRUITMENT. OVER 200 MEMBERS WERE EDUCATED ON BEST PRACTICES FOR RECRUITING, HIRING/ONBOARDING AND RETENTION OF STAFF. FURTHERMORE, MEMBERS WERE PROVIDED TOOLS TO ASSIST WITH DEVELOPING A PLAN FOR INVITING VETERAN STAFF BACK AND SECURING THEIR COMMITMENT, A POSTSEASON STAFF INVENTORY TO ASSESS STRENGTHS AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE YEAR AHEAD, AND PURPOSE-TO-IMPACT PLAN TEMPLATES TO MAKE STRIDES TOWARDS CREATING THE IDEAL STAFF CULTURE.
