MARKETPLACE - AT THE LEGACY CENTER, THE MARKETPLACE WAS DEVELOPED TO FIGHT AGAINST THE EFFECTS OF POVERTY AND UNDEREMPLOYMENT. BY PROVIDING FREE GROCERIES FUNDED THROUGH VARIOUS ENTITITES AND DONOR'S WITH A PASSION FOR BEING A HELPING HAND IN THE TIME OF NEED. CONTINUED SUPPORT FROM PARTNERS SUCH AS TRADER JOE'S, FOOD BANK OF NY AND LOCAL MARKETS. DURING THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC OF 2020, THOUGH WE DOWNSIZED IN STAFF AND LOST VOLUNTEERS, WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO SERVE FAMILIES WITHIN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, ALL OF OUR GUESTS RECEIVED INFORMATION ABOUT PARTNERING AGENCIES FOR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AND RESOURCES. (I.E. JOB PLACEMENT AND TRAINING, HOUSING, IMMIGRATION SERVICES, ETC)
IN AN EFFORT TO PRESERVE FAMILY TRADITIONS AND VALUES, THE LEGACY CENTER IS INTENTIONAL ABOUT MAKING THE HOLIDAYS BRIGHTER FOR OUR UNEMPLOYED, UNDEREMPLOYED AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITY MEMBERS. TO THE END, WE PROVIDE MEALS AND GIFTS DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS. FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO PREPARE THESE MEALS FOR THEMSELVES. THEY ARE ABLE TO GIVE A GIFT TO THEIR CHILDREN ON CHRISTMAS MORNING. WE ARE ABLE TO SUPPLY CHILDREN WITH SUPPLIES. THESE INITIATIVES CONTINUE TO BE SUPPORTED BY (100%) ANONYMOUS PRIVATE DONORS.
