INSPIRE GIRLS TO BE JOYFUL, HEALTHY, AND CONFIDENT USING A FUN, EXPERIENCED BASED CURRICULUM WHICH CREATIVELY INTERGRATES RUNNING

IN 2023, GIRLS ON THE RUN HOSTED 2 5K EVENTS. THE 5K IS HTE CULMINATING EVENT FOR THE 10 WEEK GRILS ON THE RUN PROGRAM AND IS CENTERED AROUND THE GIRLS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND ON THE CELEBRATION OF MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH. THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITY-BASED POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM THAT IS DESIGNED TO ENHANCE GIRLS SOCIAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL SKILLS AND BEHAVIORS TO SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE LIFE EXPERIENCES. THE PROGRAM S EVIDENCE-BASED CURRICULUM PLACES AN EMPHASIS ON DEVELOPING COMPETENCE, CONFIDENCE, CONNECTION, CHARACTER, CARING AND CONTRIBUTION IN YOUNG GIRLS THROUGH LESSONS THAT INCORPORATE RUNNING AND OTHER PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES. THE LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM IS DELIVERED BY CARING AND COMPETENT COACHES WHO ARE TRAINED TO TEACH LESSONS AS INTENDED. A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH COUNCILS IN ALL 50 STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, HAS SERVED OVER 2 MILLION GIRLS SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 1996. THE SOUTH LOUISIANA COUNCIL COVERS 18 PARISHES. IN 2022, PROGRAM SERVICES WERE PROVIDED AT 38 LOCATIONS SERVING A TOTAL OF 636 GIRLS. 141 VOLUNTEERS SERVED AS COACH MENTORS, IMPLEMENTING THE ORGANIZATION S 10-WEEK PROGRAM.
