DURING 2022, HCPF'S ATTENTION AND RESOURCES WAS FOCUSED ON ONE MAJOR PROGRAM/PROJECT - THE HALLS CREEK DREDGING/JETTY PROJECT. THE HALLS CREEK DREDGING/JETTY PROJECT IS A MULTI-YEAR PROJECT THAT FOCUSES ON THE RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF THE HALLS CREEK ESTUARY AND CHANNEL JETTY, LOCATED IN BARNSTABLE COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS. THIS PROJECT REQUIRES THE REGULATORY REVIEW AND APPROVALS OF MANY FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY AND TOWN AGENCIES, COMMITTEES AND ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS. MUCH HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED ON THIS PROJECT IN 2022. THE RECLAMATION OF SAND FROM HALLS CREEK AND REDISTRIBUTION OF THAT SAND TO BARRIER BEACH. THIS PROJECT INCLUDED SEEDING NEW BEACH GRASS PLANTINGS AND THE INSTALLATION OF A SNOW FENCE (TO CAPTURE SAND FROM FURTHER EROSION). THERE WAS AND IS AN ONGOING EFFORT TO FILE FOR A MEPA PERMIT FOR THE ULTIMATE DREDGING (OF HALLS CREEK) PROJECT. THIS INCLUDES FILINGS WITH MEPA, THE CAPE COD COMMISSION, U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND MANY OTHER AGENCIES.
