VOLUNTEER TRAINING PROGRAM:IN 2021 EVACUTEER.ORG STAFF HOSTED TRAINING SESSIONS AND RECRUITED EVACUTEERS, WHO ARE ON CALL AND PREPARED TO ASSIST RESIDENTS USING THE CITY'S PUBLIC EVACUATION PROGRAM DURING A MANDATORY EVACUATION. CITY-ASSISTED EVACUATION (CAE) IS A LOW-BARRIER EVACUATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE CITY GOVERNMENT POST-KATRINA TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR ANYONE WHO CANNOT OTHERWISE EVACUATE THEMSELVES DURING A MANDATORY EVACUATION. EVACUTEERS SERVE AT EACH OF THE 17 PICK-UP LOCATIONS (EVACUSPOTS) TO FILL OUT REGISTRATION PAPERWORK, ANSWER QUESTIONS, PROVIDE INFORMATION, AND HELP LOAD PEOPLE, PETS, AND THEIR LUGGAGE ONTO BUSES BOUND FOR STATE AND REGIONAL SHELTERS AHEAD OF A MAJOR STORM.
