ASAP, THE AFTER SCHOOL ARTS PROGRAM, AFFIRMS YOUNG PEOPLE AS PERSONS OF VALUE, NURTURES THEIR SKILL AND TALENT IN THE ARTS, HELPS THEM REALIZE THEIR ARTISTIC GIFTS, AND BROADENS THEIR AWARENESS OF VARIETIES OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.

ASAP DELIVERS MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTS INSTRUCTION FIVE DAYS A WEEK, ELEVEN MONTHS PER YEAR, AT MORE THAN TWENTY PROGRAM SITES, TOTALING MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND ENROLLMENTS ANNUALLY, AT NO COST TO PARTICIPANTS. ARTS PROFESSIONALS ARE PAID TO SERVE AS ASAP TEACHING ARTISTS; ASAP STUDENTS ARE RACIALLY AND CULTURALLY DIVERSE, MOST FROM LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS, AND MANY ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS. MOST ASAP PROGRAMS ARE DELIVERED IN MULTI-WEEK SESSIONS ALLOWING FOR DEPTH OF DISCOVERY, AS WELL AS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PERSISTENCE, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS, AND SELF-CONFIDENCE. PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, PARKS, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS ELIMINATING BARRIERS OF COST, TRANSPORTATION, AND PERCEIVED NON-BELONGING THAT OTHERWISE LIMIT ACCESS TO THE ARTS FOR LARGE SEGMENTS OF THE COMMUNITY.
