THE CALAPOOIA WATERSHED COUNCIL SHALL PROMOTE AND SUSTAIN THE HEALTH OF THE CALAPOOIA WATERSHED. STEWARDSHIP, RESTORATION, EDUCATION, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS ARE THE TOOLS WE USE IN PURSUIT OF THIS PURPOSE.

THE CALAPOOIA WATERSHED COUNCIL(CWC) PRIMARY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDED PLANTING, SITE PREPARATION, MAINTENANCE, NATIVE PLANT RESTORATION, WETLAND PRAIRIE RESTORATION, SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A LARGE SCALE, IN-STREAM HABITAT RESTORATION ON THE UPPER CALAPOOIA & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. IN FYE 2022-2023, PLANTS WERE INSTALLED AND MAINTAINED IN THE UPPER CALAPOOIA BASIN THANKS TO OUR RESTORATION PROGRAM THAT RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM THE NATURE CONSERVANCY, MEYER MEMORIAL TRUST & OREGON WATERSHED ENHANCEMENT BOARD. CWC DEVELOPED REGIONAL COLLABORATIONS FOR RESTORATION PROJECTS, OBTAINED FUNDING & WORKED TO INCREASE DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION & JUSTICE MEASURES. WE ALSO CONDUCTED SEASONAL MONITORING, SURVEYS IN THE UPPER CALAPOOIA & COMPLETED ENVIRONMENTAL DNA STREAM SAMPLING. WE CONTINUE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE OREGON PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT, US FOREST SERVICE, AS WELL AS REGIONAL SCHOOLS & AGENCIES TO DELIVER AWARD-WINNING YOUTH WATERSHED EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
