FARMING & COMPOSTING (URBAN AGRICULTURE): WE PRODUCE NUTRIENT RICH HEALTHY SOIL AND GROW NUTRITIOUS CHEMICAL FREE FOOD ON A COMBINED 4.5 ACRES OF SEMI URBAN LAND IN NORTH PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY NEAR WASHINGTON DC. WE DO THIS TO DEMONSTRATE THE EFFICACY OF URBAN FARMING AND ENGAGE THE COUNTY IN HEALTHY EATING, ACTIVE LIVING (HEAL) OBJECTIVES. WE DISTRIBUTE TO APPROXIMATELY 2,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PER YEAR.
OUTREACH & EDUCATION: WE ENGAGE AND TEACH COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT GROWING NUTRITIOUS FOOD, URBAN FARMING, AND HEALTHY CONSCIOUS EATING. WE WORK ON A GRASSROOTS LEVEL TO SHARE OUR KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND PRACTICE TO SHOW THE BENEFITS OF URBAN AGRICULTURE TO ADVANCE HEATH, CREATE LOCAL JOBS, AND RESTORE THE ENVIRONMENT.
