EMPOWERING SE WISCONSIN TO CREATE A SAFE AND INCLUSIVE HOME FOR LGBTQ+ COMMUNITIES. CREATE AN INCLUSIVE, THRIVING COMMUNITY WHERE LGBTQ+ PEOPLE ARE WELCOMED AND AFFIRMED.

THE LGBT CENTER OF SE WISCONSIN'S PRIMARY PROGRAMS PROVIDES EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY AND OUR ALLIES. WE DO THAT BY PROVIDING 7 WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUPS, PROVIDING ADVOCACY TO INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING DISCRIMINATION, AND WORKING WITH LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES TO DRAFT LEGISLATION AND POLICIES TO PROTECT THE COMMUNITY. WE CONDUCT REGULAR SAFE ZONE TRAINING TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE LGBTQ+ EXPERIENCE. WE ALSO PROVIDE SOCIAL EVENTS THAT BUILD FRIENDSHIPS AND GIVE A SENSE OF BELONGING. IN 2020, WE RECEIVED A CAPACITY-BUILDING GRANT USED TO HIRE ANOTHER STAFF PERSON.
