Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
UNCONTACTED TRIBES CAMPAIGN THERE ARE MORE THAN 150 UNCONTACTED TRIBES AROUND THE WORLD. THEY'RE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES WHO AVOID CONTACT WITH OUTSIDERS. IT'S THEIR CHOICE. UNCONTACTED TRIBES AREN'T PRIMITIVE RELICS OF A REMOTE PAST. THEY LIVE IN THE HERE AND NOW. THEY ARE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETIES, A VITAL PART OF HUMANKIND'S DIVERSITY, AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE MOST BIODIVERSE PLACES ON EARTH. WE KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT THEM BUT WE DO KNOW THEY HAVE VAST BOTANICAL AND ZOOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND A UNIQUE UNDERSTANDING OF SUSTAINABLE LIVING. THERE'S IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE THAT THEIR TERRITORIES ARE THE BEST BARRIER TO DEFORESTATION, PARTICULARLY IN THE AMAZON RAINFOREST. (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATION)
DECOLONIZE CONSERVATION --INDIGENOUS PEOPLES ARE THE BEST CONSERVATIONISTS AND GUARDIANS OF THE NATURAL WORLD. EVIDENCE PROVES THEY MANAGE THEIR ENVIRONMENT AND ITS WILDLIFE BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. INDIGENOUS TERRITORIES ARE THE MOST BIODIVERSE PLACES ON EARTH. EIGHTY PERCENT OF OUR PLANET'S BIODIVERSITY IS FOUND THERE. TRIBAL PEOPLES WERE EXPERT CONSERVATIONISTS LONG BEFORE THE WORD "CONSERVATION" WAS DREAMED UP. IT'S OFTEN WRONGLY CLAIMED THAT INDIGENOUS LANDS ARE "WILDERNESSES". THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS LIKE YELLOWSTONE, THE AMAZON AND THE SERENGETI ARE THE ANCESTRAL HOMELANDS OF MILLIONS OF TRIBESPEOPLE WHO HAVE SHAPED THEM, BEEN DEPENDENT ON THEM, AND NURTURED AND PROTECTED THEM, FOR MILLENNIA. (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATION)
TRIBAL VOICE SURVIVAL'S TRIBAL VOICE PROJECT GIVES REMOTE TRIBES COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY SO THEY CAN SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENTS AND MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES AND OTHERS THAT ARE TRYING TO SILENCE THEM. WE HELP GIVE THEM A PLATFORM TO TELL THEIR STORIES IN THEIR OWN WORDS AND HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD AROUND THE WORLD. SURVIVAL'S TRIBAL VOICE PROJECT INVITES INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AROUND THE WORLD TO RECORD VIDEOS SPEAKING ABOUT WHAT MATTERS TO THEM. SURVIVAL THEN RELEASES THESE VIDEOS GLOBALLY, SUBTITLED IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES.
