DEATH VALLEY FUND - TO SUPPORT PROJECTS AROUND THE PARK AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE. FOR 2021, PROJECTS INCLUDE:THE DVC'S "DEATH VALLEY FUND" (DVF) HOSTED THE FIRST IN-PERSON "PARK PARTNERS" EVENT SINCE THE START OF THE PANDEMIC AT THE FURNACE CREEK INN IN NOV 2021, A GATHERING OF NPS, GOVERNMENT LEADERS, NPO STAFF, BUSINESS AND OTHER COMMUNITY LEADERS WITH CONNECTIONS TO DV NATL PARK. THE DVF ALSO FUNDED VR SCANNING OF SCOTTY'S CASTLE FOR A FUTURE VISITOR EXHIBIT AND EXPERIENCE.
RYAN CAMP: PRESERVATION, MAINTENANCE AND INTERPRETATION OF THE HISTORICAL MINING CAMP OF RYAN, CA. TO RESTORE AND USE IT FOR EDUCATION AND A RESEARCH FACILITY. DURING 2021, THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPENT $507 TO DEVELOP AND BUILD ASSETS RELATED TO RYAN CAMP, INCLUDING A MAJOR PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH/REC HALL & AUX WATER STORAGE. THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN CAPITALIZED AND ARE BEING DEPRECIATED OVER THEIR USEFUL LIVES.ONGOING INVESTMENT IN ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL PRESERVATION PLAN PROJECTS FOR THE CHURCH/REC HALL, HOUSE #5, WAREHOUSE, BUNKHOUSES,INFRASTRUCTURE, FIRE SUPRESSION SYSTEMS AND HISTORIC WATER SYSTEMS, ETC.RESEARCH AND DRAFTING FOR SUBMISSION OF RYAN AS AN HISTORIC DISTRICT TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES CONTINUES.
THE DVC PRODUCED AND MAINTAINS A FUNCTIONING SET OF REPRODUCTIONS OF THE 1880'S ERA WORLD-FAMOUS 20 MULE TEAM DEATH VALLEY BORAX WAGONS FOR USE IN DEMONSTRATIONS, PARADES, AND LIVING HISTORY DISPLAYS AND EDUCATION.THE 20-MULE TEAM AND OUR REPRODUCTION DEATH VALLEY WAGONS IN THE ANNUAL NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED "MULE DAYS" CELEBRATIONS IN BISHOP, CA. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE "LAWS MUSEUM AND THE "AMERICAN MULE MUSEUM", WHERE THE WAGONS ARE ON PERMANENT PUBLIC DISPLAY WHEN NOT OUT AT EVENTS.THE DVC CONTINUED SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY PARTNER, THE LAWS MUESUM WITH GRANTS TOWARD THEIR COLLECTION ASSETS WITH TIES TO OUR SHARED DEATH VALLEY HERITAGE - THE DVRR BRILL CAR#5 STRUCTURE ENDOWMENT ($10,000) AND THE 20-MULE TEAM WAGON BARN STRUCTURE ENDOWMENT ($10,000).
