GET OUTDOORS NEVADA IS DEDICATED TO CONNECTING PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND AGES TO NEVADA'S DIVERSE OUTDOOR PLACES THROUGH EDUCATION, SERVICE, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND COLLABORATION.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS: SINCE 2018, GON HAS PROVIDED HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES TO MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, BENEFITING THE COMMUNITYAT- LARGE THROUGH STEWARDSHIP AND BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS THAT PROTECT AND ENHANCE OUR PUBLIC LANDS, PARKS AND TRAILS. IN 2023, GON CONTINUED TO ENGAGE WITH CORPORATE GROUPS, SERVICE CLUB LEADERS, FAITH GROUPS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS VIA TARGETED OUTREACH AND SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS TO RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS FROM THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. IN 2023, WE HOSTED 90 VOLUNTEER EVENTS, ENGAGING 4,260 VOLUNTEERS RESULTING IN 8,744.5 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS.


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: GON CONTINUED TO INVEST IN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT BY PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY-BASED EVENTS SUCH AS LAS VEGAS PRIDE, LIFE IN DEATH FESTIVAL, JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL, PUBLIC LANDS DAY, AND MORE. IN ADDITION, WE CONTINUE TO IMPROVE OUR SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORTS THROUGH ENGAGING AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGNS INCLUDING: OUTDOOR STORIES, VOLUNTEER EVENT RECAP REELS, OUR COME WITH ME SERIES, AS WELL AS OTHER THEMATIC MESSAGING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IN 2023, GON CONTINUED TO SERVE AS THE PHILANTHROPIC PARTNER FOR LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA AND WE CONTINUED TO AMPLIFY THE BUSINESS VOICE IN SUPPORT OF THE OUTDOORS AND OUR PUBLIC LANDS THROUGH THE NEVADA OUTDOOR BUSINESS COALITION.


EDUCATION: OUR FULL SUITE OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS WERE IN FULL SWING AND RESULTED IN INCREASED REACH IN 2023. OUR NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS (NGSS), MOJAVE MAX, MEET YOUR MOJAVE, AND NATIVE HABITAT PROGRAMS WERE DELIVERED THROUGHOUT THE VALLEY BUT FOCUSED ON GROUPS HISTORICALLY NOT FOUND ON PUBLIC LANDS. MANY OF THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDED A TWO_FOLD APPROACH THAT INCLUDED BOTH CLASSROOM LEARNING AS WELL AS FIELD TRIPS TO PUBLIC LANDS. IN 2023, WE DELIVERED A TOTAL OF 334 PROGRAMS TO 8,700 YOUTH, INCLUDING 116 GUIDED FIELD TRIPS WHICH RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY 60,000 OF TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT FROM GET OUTDOORS NEVADA.
