THE MISSION OF THE STILLWATER AND OAK PARK HEIGHTS CVB IS TO INCREASE THE ECONOMIC BENEFIT OF TOURISM WITH AN EMPHASIS ON OVERNIGHT STAYS.

OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE CITIES OF STILLWATER AND OAK PARK HEIGHTS MINNESOTA AS A DESTINATION POINT FOR TOURISM AND BUSINESS GATHERINGS. WHY: STILLWATER IS CONSIDERED THE HISTORIC BIRTHPLACE OF MINNESOTA BECAUSE IN 1848 THE FIRST TERRITORIAL CONVENTION THAT BEGAN THE PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING MINNESOTA AS A STATE WAS HELD ON THE CORNER OF MERTLE AND MAIN STREET DOWNTOWN. STILLWATER IS ALSO ONE OF MINNESOTA'S OLDEST TOWNS, PRECEDING MINNEAPOLIS BY YEARS. AT THE TIME OF INCORPORATION AS A CITY IN 1854, STILLWATER WAS THE LARGEST IN THE STATE. HOW: THROUGH THE FUNDING OF A MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE APPROVED 3% LODGING TAX ON HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS LOCATED WITHIN THE TWO CITY LIMITS, VISITORS GUIDES ARE PRODUCED, MAPS ARE AVAILABLE, A WEB SITE IS MAINTAINED, AND SMALL GRANTS ARE MADE TO LOGAL ACTIVITIES, ALL IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE THE STILLWATER AND OAK PARK HEIGHTS AREA. THE ORGANIZATION IS IN CLOSE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA OFFICE OF TOURISM.
