DURING 2020 THE FOOD CUPBOARD OPERATED 3 LOCATIONS IN SOMERSET COUNTY IN ORDER TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WHO WERE EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY. THERE IS ALSO AN EMERGENCY HOT LINE TO CALL IF SOMEONE IS IN NEED OUTSIDE THE TIMES THE FOOD CUPBOARD IS OPEN. IN 2020 THE CUPBOARD RECEIVED REQUESTS FOR FOOD ASSISTANCE FROM 2327 HOUSEHOLDS AND SUPPLIED THOSE HOUSEHOLDS WITH FOOD. GENERALLY WE GIVE A 1 WEEK SUPPLY OF FOOD TO EACH QUALIFYING HOUSEHOLD.IN 2020 A HOT MEAL PROGRAM WAS ALSO ESTABLISHED AND 18,971 MEALS WERE SERVED THRU JUNE 30, 2020. THIS WAS A DRIVE UP SITE FOR PICKUP ONLY.IN 2020 9.266 INDIVIDUALS FROM TOWNS OUTSIDE OF FOOD CUPBOARD MEMBER TOWN (ANSON, MADISON & EMBDEN) WERE SERVED FOOD.IN 2020 A DELIVERY PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE FOOD TWICE PER MONTH TO ELDERLY FOLKS LIVING IN LOW INCOME HOUSING. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDED FOOD SPECIFIC TO AN AGING POPULATION'S NUTRITIONS NEEDS.
THE FOOD CUPBOARD FACILITIES FOR 8 MONTHS OF 2020 WERE OWNED BY THE TOWN OF MADISON. THE TOWN DOES NOT CHARGE THE FOOD CUPBOARD FOR THE OCCUPANCY OF THE FACILITY WHICH INCLUDES RENT, HEAT, ELECTRICITY AND SNOW REMOVAL/GROUNDS MAINTENANCE. THE TOWN ESTIMATES THAT THE COST OF THE FACILITY TO THE TOWN IS $2,800 PER YEAR.THE FOOD CUPBOARD MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION SEPT 1 2020. AT THIS LOCATION THEY PAY ELECTRICITY AND HEAT IN LIEU OF RENT.
