THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND IS A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE FAMILIES OF MILITARY PERSONNEL WITH TIES TO MASSACHUSETTS WHO HAVE DIED AS A RESULT OF ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE POST 9/11/2001.

CLINICAL CASE MANAGEMENT:ELIGIBLE FAMILY MEMBERS CAN MEET WITH THE STAFF SOCIAL WORKER ON A REGULAR BASIS TO HELP THEM ADDRESS PSYCHIATRIC OBSTACLES TO BENEFITS AND SOCIAL SERVICES. MEETINGS WILL FOCUS ON COORDINATION OF SERVICES BEING PROVIDED BY ALL AGENCIES WORKING WITH THE FAMILY MEMBER, PARTICULARLY ANY INVOLVED THERAPISTS. THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF REGULAR MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING. REFERRALS: THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND CAN OFFER REFERRALS TO RESOURCES FOR MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS, MILITARY BENEFIT ADVOCATES, LEGAL SERVICES AND FINANCIAL/ESTATE PLANNING. ADVOCACY:THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND STAFF WILL ASSIST FAMILY MEMBERS WITH OBTAINING SOCIAL SERVICES, INSURANCE PAYMENTS AND OTHER BENEFITS WHICH CAN BE DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE. COMMUNITY BUILDING EVENTS:THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND IS PROUD TO OFFER COMMUNITY SUPPORT THROUGH SOCIAL EVENTS DESIGNED TO BRING FAMILIES TOGETHER IN AN ATMOSPHERE OF FUN AND MUTUAL SUPPORT, AS WELL AS PRACTICAL "FAMILY TO FAMILY" SUPPORT FOR THE RECENTLY BEREAVED. BASIC NEEDS PROGRAM:THE BASIC NEEDS PROGRAM OF THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND, INC. OFFERS LIMITED EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR MILITARY FAMILIES WHOSE ABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES HAS BEEN COMPROMISED BY THE GRIEF OF LOSING A SERVICE MEMBER IN A TIME OF WAR.EMERGENCY CASUALTY ASSISTANCE GRANTS:THE EMERGENCY CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM OF THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND OFFERS FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO MILITARY FAMILIES WHO ARE IMPACTED BY THE DEATH OF AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY SERVICE MEMBER. FUNDS FROM THIS PROGRAM MAY BE USED TO PAY FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE FUNERAL OF A FAMILY SERVICE MEMBER WHICH ARE NOT COVERED BY ANY MILITARY PROGRAM OR BENEFIT.FAMILY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:THE FAMILY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM OF THE MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY HEROES FUND OFFERS UP TO $1,000/YEAR TO ELIGIBLE MEMBER HOUSEHOLDS TO BE USED FOR SERVICES AND PROGRAMS WHICH CAN ENRICH THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR POST 9/11 BEREAVED MILITARY FAMILIES. COSTS ELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT UNDER THIS PROGRAM ARE UNINSURED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING FEES (WITH A LICENSED PROVIDER), LIFE COACHING SERVICES, CAREER COUNSELING FEES, EDUCATIONAL CLASSES, TUTORING, CHILDCARE EXPENSES, CAMPS AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
