PISCES MOON PRODUCTIONS IS INCORPORATED AS A NONPROFIT CORPORATION UNDER CALIFORNIA STATE LAW. IT IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE, SCIENTIFIC, LITERARY, OR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, WITH NO PART OF ITS INCOME OR PROPERTY TO INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF ANY INDIVIDUALS. ITS MORE SPECIFIC PURPOSES ARE TO STIMULATE, PROMOTE AND DEVELOP INTEREST IN THE DRAMATIC ARTS, TO EDUCATE THE LOCAL PUBLIC IN THE DRAMATIC ARTS, AND TO ADVANCE THE LOCAL CULTURE IN THE FIELD OF DRAMATIC AND OTHER PERFORMING AND LITERARY ARTS. ITS RECEIPTS CONSIST OF AMOUNTS DERIVED FROM THE SALE OF TICKETS AND CONCESSIONS AND FEES FOR IN-SCHOOL DRAMA COURSES, AS WELL AS DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, FOUNDATIONS, AND OTHER SIMILAR SOURCES.PISCES MOON PRODUCTIONS EXPENSES CONSIST MAINLY OF PRODUCTION COSTS AND OPERATING EXPENSES, INCLUDING CONTRACT INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES, ROYALTIES AND PUBLICITY. NO PART OF ITS NET INCOME IS TO INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF INDIVIDUALS. UPON DISSOLUTION, THE DISPOSITION OF ITS ASSETS SHALL BE SUCH AS TO EXCLUSIVELY CARRY OUT THE OBJECTS AND PURPOSES FOR WHICH THE ORGANIZATION IS FORMED, PROVIDED THAT THE ASSETS SHALL BE DISTRIBUTED TO NO ORGANIZATION THAT DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE CODE.THE MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION ARE: 1) ACTIVITY ONE: PRODUCING PLAYS THAT EXPLORE CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL ISSUES, AND ARE OF THE HIGHEST PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS. SOME OF THESE PLAYS ARE PRODUCED IN COLLABORATION WITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES AND OTHERS OFFER COORDINATING EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE AROUND THE ISSUES OF THE PLAY. SCHOOL COLLABORATION INCLUDES ENGAGING THE STUDENT BODY, FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE PRODUCTION PROCESS, PROVIDING WORKSHOPS TO INTEGRATE THE PLAYS INTO THE CURRICULA AND TEACHING CLASSES IN RELATED THEATRE ARTS. EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE, SPEAKERS ARE INVITED TO ADDRESS THE AUDIENCE AFTER THE PERFORMANCES AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT ISSUES OF THE PLAY. ADDITIONALLY, FORUMS AROUND THE ISSUES ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE TO THE PUBLIC. THESE FEATURE THE PLAYS ACTORS, DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER, AS WELL AS SPEAKERS WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES OF THE PLAY. ALSO, THE ACTORS, DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS PARTICIPATE IN FORUMS AND CONDUCT MEDIA INTERVIEWS WITH LOCAL RADIO PROGRAMS, TELEVISION STATIONS, NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES TO DISCUSS THE ISSUES OF THE PLAY, PROMOTE THE COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS AND STIMULATE INTEREST IN THEATRE ARTS.2) ACTIVITY TWO: CONDUCTING EDUCATIONAL CLASSES IN THE THEATRE ARTS IN ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS. THE ORGANIZATION WORKS WITH THE CULTURAL COUNCIL OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTYS SPECTRA PROGRAM (SPECIAL TEACHING RESOURCE IN THE ARTS) AS DRAMA TEACHERS AND ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE IN THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SCHOOLS, OFFERING COURSES IN THEATRE ARTS, DRAMA, PLAYWRITING, PLAY PRODUCTION AND POETRY FOR PERFORMANCE. EXAMPLES OF ACTIVITY ONE: PISCES MOON DID NOT ENGAGE IN ACTIVITY ONE DURING 2012 BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING, CHRONIC ILLNESS OF ITS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND BOARD SECRETARY, SUSAN MYER SILTON, WHO SERVES IN EACH CAPACITY AS A VOLUNTEER. ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2014, CHRISTOPHER SUGARMAN RESIGNED AS PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
