THE MISSION OF COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF PUYALLUP (CIS) IS TO SURROUND STUDENTS WITH A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT, EMPOWERING THEM TO STAY IN SCHOOL AND ACHIEVE IN LIFE.

SITE COORDINATION: THROUGH SITE COORDINATION A SITE COORDINATOR FILLS A PIVOTAL ROLE IN SCHOOLS AS THE SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT WORKING INSIDE THE SCHOOLS TO CONNECT COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES IN NEED OF THESE RESOURCES. THESE RESOURCES CAN BE BAGS OF FOOD FOR THE 341 STUDENTS THAT RECEIVED WEEKEND FOOD, THE HOLIDAY HELP SUPPORT THAT WAS GIVEN TO 782 STUDENTS OR THE TIME GIVEN BY VOLUNTEERS TO TUTOR STUDENTS. SITE COORDINATORS CAN DETERMINE THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE SCHOOL AND INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS AND ALIGN RESOURCES IN OUR COMMUNITY TO MEET THOSE NEEDS. THIS FORM OF INTEGRATED SERVICES PROVES TO BE SUCCESSFUL, WITH OVER 8 OUT OF 10 STUDENTS RECEIVING ONGOING SERVICES MEETING AT LEAST ONE OF THEIR ASSIGNED GOALS.
SHARING RESOURCES: TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOLS IN PUYALLUP WITHOUT A SITE COORDINATOR WE PARTNER WITH LOCAL BUSINESS, CHURCHES, SERVICE CLUBS AND INDIVIDUALS TO MATCH THEIR RESOURCES WITH THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS. AN ESTIMATED $28,813 WORTH OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES WERE DONATED AND DISTRIBUTED TO ALL SCHOOLS IN THE PUYALLUP SCHOOL DISTRICT.
