APPROXIMATELY 700 ENROLLED STUDENTS, STAFF MEMBERS AND FACULTY AT BIRCH LANE ELEMENTARY WERE SERVED BY THE PTA DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR IN THE FORM OF CLASSROOM AND PROGRAM SUPPORT.THE PTA FUNDED EACH CLASSROOM AS WELL AS PROGRAMS IN READING, ART, GARDEN, COUNSELING, SPEECH, SCIENCE AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS BY PROVIDING THE FUNDS FOR CURRICULUM SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT. IN ADDITION, THE SCHOOL LIBRARY AS WELL AS CLASSROOM FIELD TRIPS, INTERMEDIATE STUDENT PLANNERS, CROSSING GUARDS, AND PLAYGROUND MONITORS WERE ALL FUNDED IN FULL OR IN PART BY THE PTA.MANY OF THE USUAL COMMUNITY BUILDING AND SCHOOL CLIMATE EDUCATION EVENTS WERE CANCELLED BUT THE PTA BEGAN PLANNING ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO KEEP THESE TWO ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE EDUCATION FUNCTIONING.
