GATHERING OF SUPPORTIVE DATA FOR FEDERAL RECOGNITION OF THE WYANDOT OF ANDERDON NATION.


INTERACTION WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND SCHOOLS IN THE CONDUCT OF TRIBAL PROGRAMS. APPROXIMATELY 2500 PARTICIPATED IN THESE PROGRAMS.


THE TRIBE PROVIDES SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES, UNDER AN ANNUAL FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, AT THE RIVER RAISIN NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK. THE PARK IS LOCATED CLOSE TO THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES SOUTHWEST OF DETROIT AND IS ON LAND PREVIOUSLY OCCUPIED BY THE TRIBE. UNDER THE AGREEMENT THE TRIBE PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING AT THE PARK: (1)INTERPRETIVE, EDUCATIONAL AND VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES; (2) MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES; (3) CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES; AND, (4) SCHEDULED RESEARCH AND PROJECT ACTIVITIES. APPROXIMATELY 70,000 PEOPLE VISIT THE PARK ANNUALLY.


SIX INDIVIDUALS WERE AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS OF 500 EACH TO BE USED COLLEGE EDUCATION.
