OUR MISSION IS TO PRESERVE THE HERITAGE AND TRADITIONS OF RURAL LIFE IN MAINE'S PAST, TO CELEBRATE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF LIVERMORES WASHBURN FAMILY, AND TO USE LIVING HISTORY METHODS TO MAKE VALUES, ACTIVITIES, AND ISSUES OF THE PAST RELEVANT TO PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.

PROGRAM/EDUCATION: NORLANDS LIVING HISTORY CENTER WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR APPROXIMATELY 250 ELEMENTARY AGE STUDENTS AND DEVELOP NEW DIGITALLY INTERACTIVE MATERIALS FOR REMOTE ACCESS FOR THOSE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN EXPERIENTIAL SITE VISITS. HERITAGE TOURISM: NORLANDS LIVING HISTORY CENTER PROVIDED COMMUNITY EVENT ACTIVITIES AND GUIDED SITE TOURS FOR APPROXIMATELY 700 VISITORS WHO ENGAGE WITH HISTORIC INTERPRETERS PORTRAYING COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM THE 1850-70S. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE CIVIL WAR BATTLE REINACTMENTS, HISTORIC AGRICULTURAL DEMONSTRATIONS, AND INTERACTIVE ROLE-PLAYING ACTIVITIES WITH MEMBERS OF THE "WASHBURN FAMILY" OF 1870.
