TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF JEWISH LIFE IN THE SOUTHERN TIER OF NEW YORK STATE AND TO PROMOTE JEWISH IDENTITY AND WELFARE, IN ISRAEL AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE JEWISH FEDERATION SERVES AS THE UMBRELLA ORGANIZATION FOR ALL OTHER JEWISH CENTERED PROGRAMS AND ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN BROOME COUNTY NEW YORK. IT SPONSORS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SUCH AS THE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL. IT RAISES FUNDS ON AN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN BASIS FOR JFNA AND OTHER NATIONAL AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS. THESE FUNDS ARE ALLOCATED AFTER INTENSIVE SCRUTINY AND DISCUSSIONS BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
THE REPORTER PROVIDES THE COMMUNITY, ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS, WITH NEWS OF JEWISH SIGNIFICANCE ON THE LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL SCENE. IT SERVES ALSO AS A MEANS BY WHICH THE FEDERATION AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE CAN CONVENIENTLY CROSS-COMMUNICATE.
