OSTLTS PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS WORK TOWARD SUSTAINING AND IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TRIBAL PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEMS BY IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE, DEVELOPING SKILLS AND CREATING INSTITUTIONAL SYSTEMS AND CAPACITY.


ACCORDING TO INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE, THE SEASONAL FLU DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECTS AMERICAN INDIANS AND ALASKAN NATIVES, WHO ARE AT HIGHER RISK FOR COMPLICATIONS FROM THE FLU. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY ADDRESS THESE WIDESPREAD AND DETRIMENTAL DISPARITIES IN AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKAN NATIVE HEALTH AND WORKS TO COLLABORATE WITH CLINICS, PHYSICIANS AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE NATION.


IHS MEDICAL PROFESSION PROGRAMS ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES BY IMPROVING HEALTH CARE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC COMPETENCY IN AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE HEALTHCARE AND WILL INCREASE THE DIVERSITY OF THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS WORKFORCE THROUGH RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING FOR AI/AN STUDENTS.


OSAGE PARTNERSHIPS FOR PREVENTION (OPP) IS A JOINT SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION INITIATIVE BETWEEN THE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN INDIAN PHYSICIANS (AAIP) AND THE OSAGE NATION. THE INITIATIVE CONNECTS THE LONG-STANDING EXPERTISE OF AAIP AND THE RESILIENCY OF THE OSAGE NATION TO REDUCE UNDERAGE DRINKING AND NON-MEDICAL USE OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AMONG 1,500 TO 2,000 NATIVE YOUTH IN THE OSAGE TRIABL JURISDICTION.
