MAINTAIN AND EXPAND A LIBRARY AND ARCHIVAL RESEARCH FACILITY OF REGIONAL, LOCAL, AND FAMILY HISTORY. RESPOND TO RESEARCH REQUESTS FROM VISITING RESEARCHERS AND THOSE WHO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE OVER THE TELEPHONE AND THE INTERNET. PROVIDE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS ON HISTORY TO THE COMMUNITY.
FUND RAISING EFFORTS TO PURCHASE A MOBILE SHELVING SYSTEM IN ARCHIVES LIBRARY THAT WILL ALLOW US TO MAKE COLLECTION MORE ACCESSIBLE TO RESEARCHERS, ADD MORE SPACE FOR NEW ITEMS, AND PROMOTE PRESERVATION OF CURRENT ITEMS.
SERVE AS A RESOURCE CENTER FOR LOCAL HISTORY. WORK WITH CALVERT CO. SCHOOL SYSTEM TO PROMOTE ANNUAL COUNTY HISTORY FAIR AND OTHER COUNTY AGENCIES TO PROMOTE THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC STRUCTURES AND ARCHAELOGICAL SITES. PARTNER WITH OTHER NON-PROFIT AGENCIES TO INCREASE THE PUBLIC'S AWARENESS OF OUR COUNTY'S HISTORY. PROVIDE A ONE WEEK KIDS HISTORY CAMP FOR 8-12 YEAR OLDS TO FAMILIARIZE CHILDREN WITH FAMILY AND LOCAL HISTORY.
INITIATED NUMEROUS OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND PARTICIPATED IN OTHERS THAT PROVIDED INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC ON OUR COUNTY'S HISTORY, AND ENCOURAGED PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN HISTORIC PROGRAMS HELD AT OUR FACILITY. EXPANSION OF OUR AFRICAN AMERICAN ARCHIVES COLLECTION HAS INCREASED INVOLVEMENT OF LOCAL AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY, MEMBERSHIP, AND DIVERSITY OF PROGRAMMING.
