ALL OF US RESEARCH - THE NATIONAL BLACK NURSES ASSOCIATION ("NBNA") ALL OF US RESEARCH PROGRAM IS A FUNDED PROGRAM THROUGH THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH. THE ALL OF US PROGRAM WAS CREATED IN 2015 DURING THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION (PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS THE PRECISION MEDICINE INITIATIVE). ALL OF US STARTED ACTIVE ENROLLMENT IN 2018. NBNA BECAME A PROGRAM PARTNER IN 2018 FIRST WORKING TO EDUCATION BLACK AND BROWN COMMUNITIES AND LATER TO RECRUIT ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS.ALL OF US HAS HAD A PRESENCE AT ALL OF OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCES AND PRESENTED DURING THE 2021 VIRTUAL CONFERENCE. NIH ALL OF US DETERMINES ANNUALLY THEIR TARGET MARKET. IN 2021, NBNA'S CHAPTERS IN THE FOLLOWING TARGET MARKETS PARTICIPATED 1) ATLANTA, GA; 2) DENVER, CO; 3) DALLAS, TX; 4) NEW ORLEANS, LA; AND 5) NEW YORK, NY. DURING THE 2021 GRANT YEAR, THESE FIVE CHAPTERS HOSTED TEN REGIONAL EVENTS, MONTHLY ENGAGEMENT WITH ALL OF US NATIONAL PARTNER, ATTENDED 12 WEBINARS, DEVELOPED AND DISTRIBUTED COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING MATERIAL, PUBLISHED LOCAL AND NATIONAL ARTICLES, SERVED AS LOCAL AMBASSADORS AND RECRUITERS OF ENROLLEES, MET ALL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS AND SUBMITTED A FINAL REPORT. IN ADDITION, SUBMITTED A PROPOSAL, THAT WAS AWARDED, FOR 2022.
CONFERENCE - OUR CONFERENCES ARE DESIGNED FOR NETWORKING, MEMBERS AND PARTNERS RECOGNITIONS, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND EDUCATION. THE 2021 CONFERENCE PROVIDED BOTH CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS (CES) AND NON-CE SESSIONS. WE OFFERED A TOTAL OF 36.5 CE SESSIONS. NURSES ARE ABLE EARN CES FOR THE SESSIONS THEY ATTEND AND REPORT THESE TO THEIR STATE BOARD OF NURSING FOR LICENSE RENEWAL, USE FOR PROMOTIONS AT THEIR PLACE EMPLOYMENT AND CONTINUE THEIR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT TO ADVANCE. OUR CONFERENCES ALSO INCLUDE DAILY AM EXERCISES, HEALTHY EATING OPTIONS AND SPONSORED SELF-CARE ROUTINES TO PROMOTE MEMBERS HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC THE EVENT WAS HELD VIRTUALLY.
SCHOLARSHIPS - IN 2021 AT NBNA ANNUAL EDUCATION INSTITUTE & CONFERENCE, WE CONTINUED OUR TRADITION OF SUPPORTING THE EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY OF NBNA MEMBERS BY AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS THAT HONORS OUR FOUNDERS, PAST PRESIDENTS, BOARD MEMBERS, AND INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS. WE AWARD THESE NBNA SCHOLARSHIPS TO PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND TO INVEST IN OUR NEXT GENERATION OF NURSES WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR MISSION. NBNA HAS STANDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND VET ALL APPLICANTS. BELOW IS A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE REQUIREMENTS. HOWEVER, WE ALSO FOLLOW ANY SPECIFICS AS OUTLINED BY THE FUNDER AS LONG AS THEY MEET OUR REQUIREMENTS. 1. MUST BE A MEMBER OF NBNA AND A MEMBER OF A LOCAL CHAPTER (IF ONE EXISTS IN YOUR AREA). IF A CHAPTER DOES NOT EXIST WITHIN A 50- MILE RADIUS OF YOUR LOCATION YOU MAY JOIN NBNA AS A DIRECT MEMBER. 2. CANDIDATE MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A NURSING PROGRAM (LPN/LVN, ADN, RN-BSN, GENERIC BSN, MASTERS, DOCTORATE) AND IN GOOD SCHOLASTIC STANDING AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.3. APPLICANT MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE FULL YEAR OF SCHOOL REMAINING.THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC REALLY TAUGHT THE WORLD HOW VALUABLE HEALTH CARE WORKERS AND NURSES ARE TO OUR COMMUNITIES. WITH THE SUPPORT OF OUR GENEROUS PARTNERS AND MEMBERS, NBNA AWARDED 43 STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIP IN 2021 TOTALING $172,000.
