THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN COMMUNITY HOUSE (AICH) IS TO PROMOTE THE WELL BEING OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN COMMUNITY AND TO INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF AMERICAN INDIANS CULTURES IN AN URBAN SETTING IN ORDER TO CULTIVATE AWARENESS, UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT.

HELD THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY SYMPOSIUM IN BROOKLYN, NY TO CONNECT THE AMERICAN INDIAN COMMUNITY WITH BROOKLYN. THE EVENT FOCUSED ON CELEBRATING AND RECOGNIZING INDIGENOUS VALUES, CULTURE, AND ETHICS THROUGH ENVIORNMENTAL TEACHINGS, STORYTELLING, ART, DANCE AND SONG. ALSO HELD VARIOUS NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE EVENTS - RESIDENTS CONNECT WITH NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURAL TRADITIONS THROUGH DANCE, ART AND STORYTELLING. THE EVENTS FEATURED PRESENTATIONS BY NATIVE AMERICANS. VARIOUS CONFRENCES FOCUSING ON NATIVE AMERICAN HEALTH AND SOCIAL ISSUES WERE HELD. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS BINGO AND NATIVE AMERICAN THEATER PRESENTATIONS WERE OFFERED VIA ZOOM MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE PANDEMIC TO KEEP THE COMMUNITY CONNECTED. ALSO IN RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC COVID RELIEF PROGRAMS DEVELOPED FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED.


GILEAD GRANT: HELD CONFERENCES, SYMPOSIUMS AND INFORMATIONAL , CULTURAL EVENTS MEETINGS TO BRING AWARENESS OF HIV AIDS TO THE NATIVE AMERICAN COMMUNITY INCLUDING YOUTH AND ELDERS.


CENSUS GRANT: PERFORMED OUTREACH TO MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES IN THE NEW YORK CITY AREA TO COLLECT CENSUS DATA THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE NOT BEEN COUNTED IN THE 2020 CENSUS
