THE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO EXPANDING THE REALTIONSHIP BETWEEN ART, NATURE AND HUMANITY THROUGH ART, WORKSHOPS, PRESENTATIONS AND INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH PROJECTS AND TO MAINTAING A FACILITY APPROPRIATE TO ITS NEEDS WITHIN THE COAST ENVIRONMENT OF CASCADE HEAD.

THE SITKA CENTER FOR ART AND ECOLOGY IS LOCATED AT CASCADE HEAD IN ONE OF THE MOST INSPIRING AND PROTECTED PARTS OF THE OREGON COAST. WE PROVIDE TIME AND SPACE FOR PLACE-BASED REFLECTION, INQUIRY AND CREATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND ECOLOGY. SITKA'S PROGRAMS INCLUDE WORKSHOPS THAT SERVE OVER 1,000 ADULT PARTICIPANTS EACH MAY - SEPTEMBER, A RESIDENCY PROGRAM THAT HOSTS 30-50 PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND SCIENTISTS IN RESIDENCE EACH OCTOBER - APRIL, A YEAR-ROUND YOUTH PROGRAM THAT SERVES 1,000+ RURAL COASTAL KIDS WITH FREE ART AND ECOLOGY WORKSHOPS AND SUPPLIES THROUGH PUBLIC PREK-8 SCHOOLS, AND IN-PERSON AND ONLINE PUBLIC EVENTS SUCH AS TALKS, READINGS AND ART SHOWS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OUR COMBINED PROGRAMS REACH OVER 5,000 INDIVIDUALS EACH YEAR. KEY MISSION POPULATIONS SERVED INCLUDE: DIVERSE ARTISTS, WRITERS, NATURAL SCIENTISTS, MUSICIANS AND INTERDISCIPLINARY CREATIVES -- OVER 70% OF RESIDENTS SERVED IN 2021 ARE BIPOC/LGBTQ+/WORKING WITH A DISABILITY WORKING ARTISTS -- OUR WORKSHOPS AND ART SALES SUPPORT 180 PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND INSTRUCTORS WITH PAID OPPORTUNITIES RURAL, COASTAL KIDS -- THE 1,000+ PREK-8 KIDS SERVED THROUGH OUR YOUTH PROGRAM ATTEND SCHOOLS WITHOUT THE RESOURCES TO HOST ART AND STEAM PROGRAMS OF THEIR OWN.
