THE GARDENS AT HEATHER FARM ARE OPEN DAILY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE GARDEN OFFERS 6.5 ACRES OF GROUNDS WHICH INCLUDE ORNAMENTAL PLANTINGS, DEMONSTRATION PLOTS, CHILDRENS GARDEN, AND SPONSORS A COMMUNITY GARDEN. THE GARDEN'S CHILDREN'S ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM, "THE NATURAL SCIENCE CLASSROOM", OFFERS A WIDE VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR (K-7) STUDENTS OF ALL ABILITIES. IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THE GARDEN HAS PARTNERED WITH PUBLIC AGENCIES IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ALLOWING STUDENTS TO STUDY WATER CONSERVATION, POLLUTION PROTECTION, COMPOSTING AND WASTE REDUCTION.
ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE ALSO OFFERED COVERING VARIOUS TOPICS INCLUDING IRRIGATION, COMPOSTING, PLANT PROPAGATION, AND URBAN GARDENING.THE SERENE SETTING OF THE GARDEN CONTINUES TO BE AN ASSET TO THE COMMUNITY OFFERING VISITORS OPPORTUNITIES FOR A RELAXING STROLL, A PICNIC, BIRDWATCHING, NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY, OR A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO HOST A PUBLIC OR PRIVATE EVENT.
