TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A MUSEUM THAT WILL PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF THE GREENBRIER AREA. THE ORGANIZATION WILL PROMOTE THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF THE AREA, PROMOTE EDUCATION EFFORTS IN THIS REGARD THROUGH EXHIBITS, STUDIES OF GENEALOGICAL AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL MATERIALS, AND MAINTENANCE OF THE ARTIFACTS ENTRUSTED TO ITS CARE.

THE REASON FOR THE EXISTENCE OF THE GREENBRIER HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS THE MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION, PROMOTION, AND RESEARCH OF THE HISTORY OF THE GREENBRIER VALLEY AREA. THIS MISSION INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO PROMOTING STUDY AND RESEARCH INTO GENEALOGICAL AND OTHER SPECIALTY AREAS, ARCHAEOLOGICIAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL PURSUITS, AND ACQUIRING AND APPLYING PRESERVATION TECHNIQUES TO HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS AND ARTIFACTS ENTRUSTED TO THE CARE OF THEIR STAFF AND LEADERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, EDUCATING, ENLIGHTENING, AND CLARIFYING THE GREENBRIER AREA HISTORY TO CHILDREN AND THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL PROVES USEFUL TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY.
