ROTARY IS DEDICATED TO CAUSES THAT BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, IMPROVE LIVES, AND CREATE A BETTER WORLD FOR THE PEOPLE OF BUCKS COUNTY AND LOCATION ORGANIZATIONS. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND VARIOUS SERVICE PROJECTS. FOR OVER 71 YEARS OUR MOTTO HAS BEEN "SERVICE ABOVE SELF:. OUR MAIN PROJECTS FOR THE 2023-2024 FISCAL YEAR WERE: 1. HOPE ON THE VINE WHICH INCLUDES SILENT AND LIVE AUCTIONS THAT RAISED $30,000. MONEY WAS ALLOCATED OUT TO A VARIETY OF LOCAL CHARITIES (FOR EXAMPLE: LOCAL LIBRARY, ARBOR DAY ACTIVITIES FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN, LOCAL NON-PROFIT THEATRE, BREAKFAST WITH SANTA, ETC.) 2. PANCAKE BREAKFAST. MONEY RAISED WAS DONATED TO LOCAL AMERICAN LEGION POST FOR THEIR MEMORIAL DAY PARADE. 3. FUNDS RAISED FOR TURKEY AND BRAZIL RELIEF EFFORTS. 4. PEDALS FOR PROGRESS - BICYCLES AND SEWING MACHINES ARE COLLECTED (ALONG WITH SHIPPING DONATIONS) TO SHIP ITEMS TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES. THE RECIPIENTS ARE ABLE TO RIDE TO WORK OR SCHOOL ON THE BIKES OR START A HOME-BASED BUSINESS WITH THE SEWING MACHINES. BEYOND THE ABOVE, NEWTOWN ROTARY ALSO PARTICIPATES/HELPS/DONATES TO AN ANNUAL GOLF OUTING FOR A NON-PROFIT ELDER CARE FACILITY; ANGEL TREE (GIFTS FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN); BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (STRUGGLING FAMILIES); TWICE A YEAR FOOD DRIVE FOR A LOCAL PANTRY; EASTER EGG HUNT FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS; DONATE TO HELP ERADICATE POLIO THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND A TWICE A YEAR HIGHWAY CLEAN UP. WE HELP WHEREVER AND WHENEVER A NEED ARISES, TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. DONATED TO: ARBOR DAY; AMERICAN LEGION POST 440; NEWTOWN THEATRE; BREAKFAST WITH SANTA; POLIO EVENT; NEWTOWN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION; PEDALS FOR PROGRESS; BUCKS COUNTY SPCA; SUSAN G. KOMEN; KEYSTONE COMMUNITY COALITION; BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA; BUCKS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE; JOHN BILLINGTON VFW POST 6495; WASHINGTON CROSSING NATIONAL CEMETERY; ANGEL TREE; FOOD PANTRY.
