FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, SOCIAL SERVICES & MENTORING FOR LOW-INCOME SINGLE WORKING PARENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, TO PREVENT HOMELESSNESS AND GUIDE THEM TOWARDS SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

PROVIDED PROGRAM SERVICES AND HOUSING ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING SOCIAL SERVICES, RENTAL ASSISTANCE, FOOD/GAS GIFT CARDS, ADDITIONAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (ACCESS TO OFFICE PANTRY,FINANCIAL AID FOR CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING, FINANCIAL AID FOR EDUCATION) FOR 20 DIFFERENT FAMILIES, INCLUDING 34 CHILDREN.THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE RESULTED IN 4,650 NIGHTS OF HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND FAMILY STABILITY.


NORTH STAR WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING AND PRODUCTION OF THE 11TH ANNUAL CHESTER COUNTY SINGLE MOTHERS' CONFERENCE. THE CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN APRIL AND INCLUDED A RESOURCE FAIR, WORKSHOPS RELATED TO FINANCE, SELF CARE, HOME BUYING, MENTORSHIP, WORK-LIFE BALANCE, LEGAL AID, AND CHILDCARE. THE EVENT SERVED 75 SINGLE MOTHERS AND PROVIDED FREE LUNCH, FREE CHILDCARE, AND OTHER RESOURCES FOR MOMS IN NEED. NORTH STAR ALSO SUPPORTED CHILDREN OF OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS, DISTRIBUTING DONATED SCHOOL SUPPLIES, CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND BOOKS TO 34 CHILDREN. NORTH STAR ALSO PAID AN AVERAGE OF 316 EACH FOR 18 CHILDREN TO ATTEND SUMMER CAMP OR PARTICIPATE IN ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. NORTH STAR PROVIDED FINANCIAL SPPORT FOR TWO INDIVIDUALS TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION, OR ACHIEVE ADDITIONAL JOB CERTIFICATIONS, IN THE FORM OF REGISTRATION FEES, TUITION AND PURCHASING TEXTBOOKS.


CASE MANAGEMENT AND INITIAL PROGRAM SERVICES FOR 12 APPLICANT FAMILIES INCLUDING 22 CHILDREN, AND RESPONSES TO OVER 302 INQUIRIES.


NORTH STAR OF CHESTER COUNTY OPERATES AN IN-OFFICE PANTRY FOR OUR FAMILIES. 1 VOLUNTEER MAINTAINS THE PANTRY, CHECKING INVENTORY AND REFILLING IT AS NEEDED, LOGGING 18 HOURS OF SERVICE.
