HARRY LACKHOVE POST 517 IS A QUALIFIED VETERANS POST UNDER IRS SEC. 501(C) (19). THIS VETERANS POST PROVIDES OUTREACH SERVICES TO THE VETERANS IN THE MERCERSBURG AREA AND DONATES TO LOCAL CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS. IN ADDITION, THIS ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A POST HOME AND PICNIC GROUNDS FOR ITS MEMBERS AND FAMILIES OF THE MEMBERS.

THE SONS PARTICIPATED IN THREE VETERANS YOUTH ACTIVITY PROGRAMS IN 2021. THEY ASSISTED THE LEGION MEMBERS IN THE ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY PARADE, THEY DISTRIBUTED FOOD BASKETS TO 24 NEEDY FAMILIES IN MERCERSBURG AREA, AND PARTICIPATED IN THE ANNUAL FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY. IN ADDITION, THE SONS CONDUCTED THREE VISITS TO THE MARTINSBURG, WV VETERANS HOSPITAL. IN ADDITION, THE SONS COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW BBQ PIT FOR USE OF ALL MEMBERS OF THE LEGION FAMILY IN THE MERCERSBURG AREA.
THE POST CONDUCTED THE ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY PARADE AND WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR THE CITIZENS OF MERCERSBURG AND SURROUNDING AREAS. IN ADDITION, THE ANNUAL VETERANS DAY CEREMONY WAS CONDUCTED AT THE VETERANS MEMORIAL WHICH WAS ERECTED BY THE POST AND DEDICATED IN 2015. HARRY LACKHOVE POST 517 MADE A CONCERTED EFFORT TO SUPPORT THE ORATORIAL PROGRAMS AND MUSIC PROGRAMS FOR THE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL DURING 2021. IN ADDITION, HARRY LACKHOVE POST 517 HOSTED A VETERANS DAY CEREMONY TO HONOR 128 VETERANS AND GUESTS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO OUR NATION.
