CLINICAL RESEARCH. IN 2023, VBRI'S CLINICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM SUPPORTED TEN PROJECTS SERVING NEARLY 75 VETERAN AND CAREGIVER RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS IN THE AREAS OF AIRBORNE HAZARDS/TOXIC EXPOSURES AND OTHER DEPLOYMENT RELATED ILLNESSES, CANCER, DIABETES AND HYPERTENSION, GULF WAR ILLNESS, MENTAL ILLNESS AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS, PULMONARY FUNCTION, SPINAL CORD DISORDERS, AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. RESEARCH PROJECTS WERE FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, NEW JERSEY COMMISSION FOR BRAIN INJURY RESEARCH AND INDUSTRY SPONSORS.


BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH. IN 2023, VBRI'S BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM SUPPORTED SIX PROJECTS IN THE AREAS OF DIABETES AND HYPERTENSION, GULF WAR ILLNESS, MENTAL ILLNESS AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS INCLUDING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. RESEARCH PROJECTS WERE FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, AND NEW JERSEY COMMISSION FOR BRAIN INJURY RESEARCH.


EDUCATION. IN 2023, VBRI EXPANDED ITS COLON, LUNG AND SKIN CANCER SCREENING EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR VETERANS, FAMILY MEMBERS, CAREGIVERS AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS WITH 16 EDUCATIONAL EVENTS HELD ENGAGING OVER 600 PARTICIPANTS. IN ADDITION, VBRI SUPPORTED EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY THAT INCLUDED TRAINING FOR VETERANS, FAMILY MEMBERS, CAREGIVERS AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS IN A VARIETY OF DEPLOYMENT RELATED HEALTH CONCERNS.
