THE MISSION OF THE UNITED WAY OF PASSAIC COUNTY IS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN PASSAIC COUNTY BY MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF OUR COMMUNITY.

COMMUNITY IMPACT: UWPC ADDRESSES COMMUNITY NEEDS IN PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ IN EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY, AND HEALTH & NUTRITION; BENEFITTING 2,000+ INDIVIDUALS PER YEAR. EDUCATION PROGRAMS HELP CHILDREN SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND GRADUATE ON TIME. FINANCIAL STABILITY PROGRAMS PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL FINANCIAL COUNSELING, FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION AND FAFSA PREPARATION FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. UNITED WAY CONVENES THE PASSAIC COUNTY FOOD POLICY COUNCIL WHICH WORKS TO IMPROVE AVAILABILITY & AFFORDABILITY OF HEALTHY FOOD AND BUILD HEALTHY COMMUNITIES. COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS ARE PROVIDED TO AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, EMERGENCY FOODS PROGRAMS AND DISASTER RELIEF SERVICES.
GIFTS IN KIND: IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC OVER 24,000 BOXES OF FRESH PRODUCE, 700 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND 9,225 ARTICLES OF NEW CHILDREN'S CLOTHING WERE RECEIVED AND DISTRIBUTED TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN 2020. 3,400 INDIVIDUALS BENEFITED FROM THESE IN-KIND DONATIONS. UNITED WAY SOLICITS AND RECEIVES IN-KIND DONATIONS OF PRODUCTS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FROM A VARIETY OF CORPORATE PARTNERS TO ADDRESS IMMEDIATE COMMUNITY NEEDS, PARTICULARLY IN TIMES OF COMMUNITY EMERGENCIES. THE UNITED WAY RECORDS AND MANAGES THIS INVENTORY OF PRODUCT BEFORE COORDINATING THE DISTRIBUTED OF PRODUCTS DIRECTLY TO INDIVIDUALS OR NON-PROFITS THAT HAVE BEEN SCREENED AND VETTED BY THE UNITED WAY.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION & REFERRAL: UNITED WAY MOBILIZES THE CARING POWER OF THE COMMUNITY BY INSPIRING AND CONNECTING CARING INDIVIDUALS TO VOLUNTEER WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT WORK.
