SECRETARY PROGRAMS. THE SECRETARY HANDLES MOST OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE NORTH JERSEY SECTION. THE PRIMARY EXPENSE IS THE LOCAL SECTION ELECTION.
EDUCATION. THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE ORGANIZES EVENTS AND PROVIDES AWARDS FOR K-12 STUDENTS, UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. - MERRILL AWARD. THIS IS AN AWARD GIVEN TO A HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY TEACHER FOR OUTSTANDING TEACHING WHERE NOMINATIONS COME FROM PAST STUDENTS - CHEM OLYMPIAD. THIS IS PART OF THE ACS NATIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD PROGRAM. TESTS ARE GIVEN TO HS STUDENTS, WHERE THE HIGHEST SCORING STUDENTS MAY BE INVITED TO A NATIONAL CAMP, AND COMPETE TO EARN A SPOT FOR AN INTERNATIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD. THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE ORGANIZES THE TESTING AND PROVIDES AWARDS TO THE TOP STUDENTS IN THE STATE. - NCW.
