CLEAN WATER & REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTIC - THE ROB MACHADO FOUNDATION (RMF) PROVIDES WATER-FILLING STATIONS TO SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC SPACES AND TEMPORARY WATER STATIONS AT MAJOR MUSIC EVENTS, PROVIDING CLEAN WATER WHILE ELIMINATING SINGLE-USE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES. IN 2022, RMF PROVIDED WATER REFILL STATIONS AT 5 LOCAL AREA EVENTS (CAMP SHRED, BRO-AM, X GAMES, OHANA FESTIVAL AND CITY OF ENCINITAS OKTOBERFEST) AIDING IN DIVERTING OVER 40K SINGLE PLASTIC BOTTLES FROM LANDFILLS. ADDITIONALLY WE HAVE DONATED 10K REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES TO NATIONAL CITY AND ESCONDIDO SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
TRASH AND RECYCLING - RMF PROVIDES TRASH AND RECYCLING SOLUTIONS AT BEACHES, SCHOOLS, AND SURF EVENTS TO PROTECT WATERWAYS AND SAVE RECYCLABLES FROM ENTERING LANDFILLS. RMF HOSTS SAN DIEGO BEACH CLEANUPS THAT ACTIVATE HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS (ADULTS AND KIDS) ANNUALLY TO REMOVE TRASH FROM PUBLIC BEACHES AND WATERWAYS. IN 2022 OUR MONTHLY BEACH CLEANS UP RESULTED IN THE REMOVAL OF 539LBS OF PLASTIC WASTE.
