TO ALLEVIATE THE CONDITIONS OF HUNGER, POVERTY, ILLITERACY AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE CITY OF PATERSON BY PROVIDING EMERGENCY SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED AND BY DESIGNING LONG-TERM APPROACHES TO ACHIEVING SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPROVEMENT AT THE GRASSROOTS LEVEL.

Part 3 - Line 4a

IN 2022, THE EMERGENCY MEN'S SHELTER SERVED 79 HOMELESS MEN, PROVIDING 9,685 SHELTER BED NIGHTS AND 20,000+ MEALS. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 30 VOLUNTEER GROUPS REPRESENTING HOUSES OF WORSHIP AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS THAT PREPARE AND DELIVER IN-KIND MEALS THROUGOUT THE YEAR. THROUGH THE CASE MANAGEMENT PROCESS, SHELTER RESIDENTS WERE ABLE TO ACCESS 1,785 HOURS OF COUNSELING.


IN 2022, THE NEXT STEP WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVED 25 WIOA & INTENSIVE SUPERVISION PROGRAM (ISP) CLIENTS. THE CLIENT POPULATION WAS DIVIDED ACROSS 2 TRAINING AREAS: (1) WIOA-YOUTH AND (2) INTENSIVE SUPERVISION/HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA COMPLETION PROGRAM.


IN 2022, THE SPCDC AMERICORPS PROGRAM AND ITS MEMBERS BUILT CAPACITY FOR FUTURE GROWTH AND SERVED DAY TO DAY TO ACCOMPLISH THE OBJECTIVES OF THE AGENCY. THE PROGRAM HIRED AND PLACED 12 MEMBERS WHO PROVIDED 6,668 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE TIME WITH SPCDC AND OUR NON-PROFIT PARTNER AGENCIES. MEMBERS WHO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE EARNED $13,543.98 IN EDUCATION AWARDS.
