THE MISSION OF THE SOCIETY IS TO PROMOTE THE FOLLOWING: TEACHING AND RESEARCH IN THE PRACTICE OF PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY; THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING PROGRAMS INCLUDING A DISTINCT CERTIFICATION IN THE FIELD OF PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY; AND PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY EDUCATION TO HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS.

THE SOCIETY HOLDS A SPRING MEETING ATTRACTING LARGE NUMBERS OF REGISTRANTS THAT GATHER TO LEARN MORE ABOUT PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY AS WELL AS PERINATAL PATHOLOGY. THE SOCIETY HOLDS A FALL MEETING EACH YEAR AT VARIOUS PEDIATRIC INSTITUTIONS THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA. THE FALL MEETING INCLUDES THE PRESENTATION OF PAPERS AND A SYMPOSIUM THAT DRAWS UPON THE EXPERTISE OF LOCAL FACULTY. AN INFORMAL ATMOSPHERE ALLOWS FOR INTERCHANGE AMONG COLLEAGUES AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE INSTITUTIONS OF PEERS.PUBLICATION OF SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS CONCERNING RESEARCH AND PRACTICE OF PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY.THE SLIDE SURVEY PROGRAM OF THE SPP IS INTENDED FOR ALL PATHOLOGISTS AND PATHOLOGY TRAINEES. THE SLIDE SURVEY ONLINE (SSO) CONSISTS OF 18 CASES PER YEAR (3 SETS OF 6 CASES EACH) WHICH INCLUDE VIRTUAL MICROSCOPE SLIDES, DIGITAL VERSIONS OF THE BOOKLETS AND THE ELECTRONIC ANSWER-SUBMISSION SHEETS, AS WELL AS SURVEY ANALYSIS, CASE DISCUSSION, AND CASE ARCHIVES. PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT TO SPEND APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR ON EACH CASE, INCLUDING REVIEWING THE HISTORY AND SLIDE, ARRIVING AT A DIAGNOSIS, ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS, AND REVIEWING THE CONTRIBUTOR'S SUMMARY AND CASE DISCUSSION. OTHER PROGRAM REVENUE AND EXPENSES CONSIST OF REVENUE FROM DUES AND DONATIONS AND AWARD EXPENSES.
