Part 3

LOWER ENROLLMENT RATES AT COLLEGES FOR MINORITIES ARE DUE TO DIFFERENCES IN ACCESS TO FINANCIAL RESOURCES. HOUSEHOLD WEALTH IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO PAYING FOR COLLEGE SINCE FAMILIES TEND TO DRAW UPON THEIR WEALTH, TAKE OUT MORTGAGES, CASH IN STOCKS OR SEEK OTHER MEANS TO FINANCE THEIR CHILDS COLLEGE EDUCATION. MINORITY STUDENTS HAVE LONG ENCOUNTERED HURDLES TO ATTENDING COLLEGE. AND WHILE ENROLLMENT RATES ARE ON THE RISE, MINORITY STUDENTS STILL OFTEN FACE AN UPHILL BATTLE COVERING TUITION AND ASSOCIATED FEES. THATS WHY SCHOLARSHIPS AND OTHER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ARE VITALLY IMPORTANT IN HELPING MINORITY STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR COLLEGE AND CAREER DREAMS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS SEVERAL MAJOR PROGRAM INITIATIVES TARGETED TO ENRICH, SUSTAIN AND ENSURE THE CULTURE AND ECONOMIC SURVIVAL OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AND OTHER PERSONS OF AFRICAN ANCESTRY.
