VISITING HOMECARE SERVICE OF OCEAN COUNTY IS A NON-PROFIT AGENCY WHICH PROVIDES HOME HEALTH AIDE SERVICE TO THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED IN THEIR HOMES AND ADULT DAY CARE SERVICE FOR SENIORS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND DEMENTIA IN "A FRIEND'S HOUSE" LOCATED AT THE AGENCY'S FACILITY IN TOMS RIVER. THE AGENCY HAS SERVED THE RESIDENTS OF OCEAN COUNTY SINCE 1966. THE HOME HEALTH AID SERVICE CARES FOR APPROXIMATELY 420 CLIENTS PER WEEK AND INCLUDES PERSONAL CARE, LIGHT HOUSEKEEPING, MEAL PREPARATION, LAUNDRY AND ESSENTIAL ERRANDS. THE SOCIAL DAY CARE PROVIDES A LIVELY, HOME LIKE ATMOSPHERE FOR ADULTS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING CONFUSION, DISORIENTATION OR MEMORY LOSS DUE TO AGING, ILLNESS OR SOCIAL ISOLATION, "A FRIEND'S HOUSE" PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOCIALIZATION, REMINISCENSE, CRAFTS, MUSIC, NUTRITIOUS LUNCHES AND SNACKS AND MANY THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO INCREASE ORIENTATION AND STIMULATE MEMORY. FAMILY CAREGIVERS RECEIVE MUCH NEEDED RESPITE FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARING FOR THEIR LOVED ONE AS WELL AS EDUCATION AND SUPPORT FROM A SUPPORT GROUP. THE SERVICES THE AGENCY PROVIDES ARE PAID FOR BY A VARIETY OF SOURCES INCLUDING MEDICARE, MEDICAID, GRANTS FROM OCEAN COUNTY AND THE STATE OF NJ, PRIVATE PAY AND CONTRIBUTIONS. VISITING HOMECARE SERVICE IS MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO CARRY OUT THESE PROJECTS SINCE IT HAS PROVIDED HOMECARE SERVICE FOR 49 YEARS AND ADULT DAY CARE FOR 25 YEARS. IT HAS COMMUNITY ACCOUNTABILITY THROUGH A VOLUNTARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS, IT IS ACCREDITED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HOME CARE ACCREDITATION, IT IS LICENSED BY THE NEW JERSEY DIVISION OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, CLIENT AND PERSONNEL RECORDS ARE AUDITED ANNUALLY BY NJ DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, OCEAN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT, OCEAN COUNTY OFFICE OF SENIOR SERVICES AND THE NJ STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH GERONTOLOGY PROGRAM.
