THROUGH RELATIONSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS FORGED WITH DIGNITY AND HOPE, MOUNT CARMEL GUILD OF TRENTON ASSISTS THE COMMUNITY TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES TO DECENT HEALTH, NUTRITION, HOUSING, AND EDUCATION.

THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM CONTINUES TO CARE FOR THE HOMELESS, HUNGRY AND FOOD-INSECURE RESIDENTS OF TRENTON AND MERCER COUNTY, NJ. THE PANTRY IS OPEN MONDAY- FRIDAY AND HOUSEHOLDS MAY COME ONCE PER WEEK. IN 2022, THE PANTRY AVERAGED EACH MONTH 500 SINGLE HOUSEHOLD VISITS AND 1,022 FAMILY HOUSEHOLD VISITS, IMPACTING 3,600 CARE RECEIVERS. WE CONTINUE TO PARTNER WITH CATHOLIC CHARITIES DIOCESE OF TRENTON TO JOINTLY OPERATE THE FOOD PANTRY. ADDITIONALLY, AN AVERAGE OF 35 SENIOR CITIZEN HOUSEHOLDS ARE ENROLLED IN THE MONTHLY USDA COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM. OUR THANKSGIVING DINNER PROJECT PROVIDED ALL THE INGREDIENTS FOR A TRADITIONAL MEAL TO 852 FAMILIES AND OVER 250 FAMILIES RECEIVED TOYS AND GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE SPECIALTY FOOD DRIVES FOR HIGH REQUEST ITEMS SUCH AS CEREAL; OFFERING CAKE MIX, CANDLES, ETC. AS KITS FOR BIRTHDAYS; CELEBRATING HOLIDAYS SUCH AS LABOR DAY WITH HOTDOGS AND BUNS; AND HOLDING A MONTHLY NUTRITIONAL AWARENESS DAY. PROJECTS AND FOOD COLLECTIONS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT RECEIVED FROM LOCAL CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, AND BUSINESSES. STAFF COORDINATED PREVENTION SERVICES FOR 9 HOUSEHOLDS NEEDING UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO PREVENT SHUT OFFS AND 25 HOUSEHOLDS WITH RENT/MORTGAGES PAYMENTS IN ARREARS.
THE GUILD'S HOME HEALTH NURSING PROGRAM, ACCREDITED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HOME CARE ACCREDITATION, DELIVERS QUALITY, LONG-TERM, HOME- BASED NURSING CARE FOR THE MEDICALLY NEEDY AND POOR OLDER INDIVIDUALS IN MERCER COUNTY. PATIENTS RECEIVE A COMPREHENSIVE INITIAL ASSESSMENT, ROUTINE REASSESSMENTS, SAFETY CHECKS, REFERRALS, AND NURSING SERVICES. IN 2022, OUR RNS CARED FOR 34 PATIENTS PROVIDING 551 UNITS OF SERVICE (EACH UNIT EQUATES TO UP TO 45 MINUTES OF NURSING CARE).
