KOOHI GOTH WOMEN HOSPITAL (KGWH) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2005 PARTNERING WITH ATIA ZAFAR FOUNDATION. KOOHI GOTH HOSPITAL (KGH) HAS OFFERED UNIQUE SERVICES TO WOMEN AND CHILDREN NOT ONLY TO THE SURROUNDING AREAS BUT ALL OVER KARACHI AND PAKISTAN . THEY PROVIDE EXTENSIVE EDUCATION ON A RARE CONDITION CALLED FISTULA, OR EXCESSIVE VAGINAL LEAKAGE OF URINE AND STOOL DUE TO CHILDBIRTH. EVEN MORE STAGGERING ARE THE STATISTICS. ROUGHLY 100,000 WOMEN EXPERIENCE THIS CONDITION WORLDWIDE! WOMEN WHO INCURRED ONSET OF FISTULA (AMONG OTHER GYNECOLOGICAL ISSUES) ARE BEING TREATED SURGICALLY. KGH IS ONE OF THE FEW HOSPITALS IN PAKISTAN, WHICH HAS EXPERTISE ON OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGICAL ISSUES. AS SUCH, THIS IS A SAFE HAVEN FOR WOMEN IN THE AREA. KOOHI GOTH WOMEN HOSPITAL (KGWH) HAS A MIDWIFERY, A 2 YEAR PROGRAM WHERE ALMOST 180 STUDENTS ARE ENROLLED AND 90 GRADUATE EACH YEAR. HOSTELS ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE ADMITTED FROM OTHER PARTS OF PAKISTAN. GIRLS ARE ADMITTED AFTER PASSING HIGH SCHOOL IN SCIENCE SUBJECTS. AFTER GRADUATING FROM KGWH MIDWIFERY PROGRAM 100% OF GIRLS DO GET A JOB IN THE PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SECTOR. GOAL IS TO PROVIDE A COMPETENT PERSON TO DELIVER A CHILD, MOST GRADUATE WORK IN A RURAL SETTING. THIS PROGRAM IS ALSO SUPPORTED BY THE UNITED NATIONS.
MIDLAND DOCTORS ASSOCIATION OF UK: AFTER RETURN FORM VISIT OF EARTH QUAKE AFFECTED AREAS IN KASHMIR THE DOCTORS IN UK REALISED THAT THERE WAS A HUGE UMET NEED FOR MEDICAL CARE IN THE REGION. A HOSPITAL WAS BUILT IN THE TANDALI VILLAGE SOME 20 KILOMETERS FROM MUZZAFFARABAD , THE CAPITAL CITY OF PAKISTAN ADMINITERED KASHMIR IN HEART OF THE AREA DEVASTED BY THE EARTHQUAKE. THIS HOSPITAL IS FOR INDIGENT POPULATION AND GETS 25,000 PATIENT VISITS PER YEAR, ALL TREATED FREE OF CHARGE, IN NHS MODEEL AND TO NHS STANDARDS. THE DOCTORS VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND TRAVEL FROM UK AT OWN EPXNMESE TO PERFORM OPERATIONS, ASSESSMENTS AND PROCEDUCRES AT THE HOSPITAL.
