NEW YORK WEB CENTER'S PRIDE PROGRAM USES THE ATTRACTION OF HIP HOP TO MOTIVATE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO STAY IN SCHOOL, GRADUATE AND ENTER COLLEGE OR THE WORKFORCE ORIENTED FOR SUCCESS. OUR DIGITAL LOUNGE PROVIDES AN EXCITING, SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO THE STREETS FOR MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS 15-24 DURING THE CRITICAL AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS. MENTORS AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS GUIDE STUDENTS THROUGH THE CHALLENGES OF SCHOOL, HOME AND CAREER CHOICES. THEY LEARN THE BUSINESS OF MAGAZINE PUBLISHING, VIDEOGRAPHY, MUSIC RECORDING AND BROADCASTING. THEY MAY NOT ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN ENTERTAINMENT, BUT THEY ARE BETTER PREPARED TO GARNER SUCCESS IN LIFE.
NYWC'S HIP HOP ACADEMY USES MUSIC PRODUCTION AFTER SCHOOL TO KEEP AT - RISK YOUTH OFF STREETS AND IN A SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. SERVICES PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 75 YOUTH IN NYWCV'S STATE OF THE ART RECORDING STUDIO. STUDENTS RECEIVE MENTORING, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, AND THEY RAISE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT WHILE LEARNING VOCATIONAL SKILLS.
