KOINS FOR KENYA'S PRIMARY GOAL IS TO IMPROVE THE MUCH-NEEDED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS IN RURAL VILLAGES. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS VIA OUR STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS IN REMOTE VILLAGES TO ATTEND SECONDARY (HIGH) SCHOOL. WE PROVIDE VERY NEEDY SCHOOLS WITH NEW CLASSROOMS, TOILETS, WATER CISTERNS, AND DESKS THE STUDENTS NEED IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THEIR OPPORTUNITY FOR EDUCATION IN A BETTER ENVIRONMENT.

KOINS FOR KENYA PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 37 BRIGHT BUT NEEDY SECONDARY SCHOOL (HIGH SCHOOL) STUDENTS TO ATTEND SCHOOL. WITHOUT THIS SUPPORT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PAY THEIR SCHOOL FEES, ALLOWING THEM TO ATTEND SCHOOL. THE STUDENTS SENT PROGRESS LETTERS TO THEIR SPONSOR THREE TIMES PER YEAR. THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS TO IMPROVE THE RURAL SCHOOLS THAT WE SUPPORTED BUILT 12 NEW CLASSROOMS, 5 WATER CISTERNS, 7 TOILETS, AND 320 DESKS AT SIX DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, KOINS ALSO PROVIDED 50 LOCKERS AT THE SECONDARY SCHOOL. THE ENROLLMENT AT THESE SCHOOLS VARIES FROM 200 TO 800 STUDENTS. KOINS HAS FOUND WITH NEW AND IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE ENROLLMENT AT THE SCHOOLS INCREASE AND THE STUDENTS ARE BETTER ABLE TO LEARN. A SOLAR BOREHOLE/WATER CISTERN AND PUMPING SYSTEM WAS ADDED. MANY MORE WILL NOW BE ADDED IN COMING YEARS.
