Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

WE CURRENTLY SUPPORT THE EDUCATION OF 106 GIRLS, AGES 12 TO 20. THE INTERRUPTED SCHOOLING DUE TO THE CONFLICT AND NATURAL DISASTERS IN THIS REGION OF AFRICA, MAKES IT SO THAT MANY OF OUR STUDENTS ARE OLDER WHEN THEY MATRICULATE INTO SECONDARY SCHOOL. AT PRESENT, WE SUPPORT 56 STUDENTS IN SOUTH SUDAN; 17 IN PRIMARY SCHOOL AND 39 IN SECONDARY SCHOOL. IN UGANDA, WE SUPPORT 50 STUDENTS, FROM 6 DIFFERENT REFUGEE CAMPS, AND SEND THEM TO WELL ESTABLISHED BOARDING SCHOOLS THAT ALSO HAVE UGANDAN STUDENTS. OF THE 50 STUDENTS, 16 ARE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL AND 34 ARE IN SECONDARY SCHOOL.SINCE OUR MERGER IN OCTOBER 2022, 96 GIRLS HAVE GRADUATED FROM SECONDARY SCHOOL. TO PROVIDE THESE GIRLS WITH A POST GRADUATE EDUCATION, WE CREATED A BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS COURSE IN JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN. 30 GIRLS CAME TO THIS CLASS IN 2022-2023. WE CONTINUE TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH OUR GRADUATES AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE GIRLS TO MEET PERIODICALLY.ANOTHER PROJECT THAT WAS STARTED IN 2015, BUT PUT ON HOLD SINCE THE CIVIL CONFLICT, IS THE BUILDING OF A CAMPUS NEAR TORIT, SOUTH SUDAN IN A TOWN CALLED ISALARO. THIS REGION OF SOUTH SUDAN HAS NO SCHOOLS, AND WE HAD HOPED TO PROVIDE AN EDUCATION FOR THE CHILDREN WHO LIVE THERE FROM PRIMARY THROUGH SECONDARY SCHOOL. WE HAD SECURED THE LAND AND WERE WORKING WITH WATER AND ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERS WHEN THE FIGHTING BROKE OUT.THE ORAL HISTORY PROJECT THAT CHRONICLED THE PLIGHT OF THE REFUGEE GIRLS THAT WERE SETTLED IN BOULDER IN 2006, LED TO THE CREATION OF A DOCUMENTARY: THE DAWN WILL BREAK. IT WAS MOST RECENTLY SHOWN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO CONFERENCE OF WORLD AFFAIRS IN APRIL 2023.
