METRO WEST COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT PROMOTES INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE MEMBER MUNICIPALITIES; TO ARTICULATE POSITIONS AND WHEN APPROPRIATE, IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS TO REGIONAL, COUNTYWIDE AND STATE ISSUES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS TO LOCAL ISSUES PRESENTED BY MEMBER MUNICIPALITIES. THE COUNCIL PROVIDES TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO FOSTER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF MUNICIPAL ISSUES. THE COUNCIL COORDINATES GROWTH AND TRANSPORTATION ISSUES AFFECTING THE REGIONS THEY SERVE. THE COUNCIL ALSO UPHOLDS AND ADVOCATES PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE LOCAL GOVERNMENT. SPRINGFIELD DOWN DRIVE - A YEARLY EVENT TO EXPOSE THE MEMBERS TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND MEET WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS REGARDING LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES AS WELL AS MEET WITH AGENCY HEADS TO FORM RELATIONSHIPS AND DISCUSS TOPICS OF MUTUAL INTEREST.


STATE OF THE COUNTIES - OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MEMBERS TO HEAR UPDATES FROM THE COUNTY CHAIRMAN OF KANE, KENDALL AND DEKALB COUNTIES, AND TO DISCUSS POSSIBLE JOINT ISSUES.


LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST - AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LEGISLATORS TO SIT IN A PANEL FORMAT AND UPDATE ON LEGISLATION, AND FOR MEMBERS TO ASK QUESTIONS.
